The Therapeutic Use of Agarwood

I heard the Prophet Muhammad S.A.W (Peace Be Upon Him ) saying,

“Treat with the oud al-hindi (Agarwood), for it has healing for seven diseases: it is to be sniffed by one having throat trouble , and to be put into one side of the mouth of one suffering from pleurisy . ”

Agarwood is mentioned five times in the Bible.

Numbers 24:6: “Like valleys they spread out, like gardens beside a river, like aloes planted by the Lord, like cedars beside the waters.”

Psalms 45:8 :”All the garments smell of myrrh, and aloes, and cassia, out of the ivory places, whereby they have made thee glad.”

Proverbs 7:17:“I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes, and cinnamon. ”

Song of Solomon 4:14:“Spikenard and saffron: calamus and cinnamon, with all tress of frankincense; myrrh and aloes, with all the chief spices.”

John 19:39:“And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.”
